But sadly, I’m not wise. It’s hard to talk away the memories that you prize.

Indelibly Winter: A Hallowing Hope- note to singles...and the rest

For most Christians, especially girls, the call to wait on the sovereignty of the Lord in falling in love is a tough call to follow. If I’ve heard one sermon on singleness/dating, I’ve heard a thousand. I’ve grown up hearing how we, as Believers, are called to ‘kiss dating goodbye’ and ‘let God…

What must love do? It must rescue us from our addiction to self and bring us, changed, into the presence of God.

O Great God

O great God of highest heaven
Occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme
Conquer every rebel power
Let no vice or sin remain
That resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me
Make me Yours forevermore

I was blinded by my sin
Had no ears to hear Your voice
Did not know Your love within
Had no taste for heaven’s joys
Then Your Spirit gave me life
Opened up Your Word to me
Through the gospel of Your Son
Gave me endless hope and peace

Help me now to live a life
That’s dependent on Your grace
Keep my heart and guard my soul
From the evils that I face
You are worthy to be praised
With my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven
Glorify Your Name through me

From Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper:

“The opposite of wasting your life is living life by a single God-exalting, soul-satisfying passion. The well-lived life must be God-exalting and soul-satisfying because that is why God created us”

Piper has made the entire book available on his website, to download as a pdf. I would highly recommend this book, which the Rebelution forum introduced me to.

Today I saw evidence of God working through me to reach others. I am amazed at the impact a godly testimony can have on even the most unreachable sinner. I feel so blessed to be used in this way. I only regret that I cannot stick around to watch them grow. I really, really hope they do.

It is so satisfying to be able to move on and feel like I accomplished something truly worthwhile. I did not do it alone, of course. Oh God is so good.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
